Set to go into effect July 1, 2026, HB 2444 will dramatically affect (and often for the worse) our client’s bond opportunities, sentencing outcomes, and jail credit. This CLE will cover each of the following two topics for a full 50 minutes: Bond under HB 2444 and Sentencing under HB 2444. These CLEs will help explain the new statutory language, how we anticipate this will affect certain clients, and some ideas on how to navigate this new legal landscape. These sessions will be an in-depth practical explainer of the new statute so attendees can immediately apply this knowledge for the benefit of their clients. Presented by Rebekah Gaston, Legislative Staff Attorney, Danielle Hamilton Slate, Chief of the Third Judicial Public Defender Office, and Michelle Neis, Deputy of the Third Judicial Public Defender Office.
